Modstitch

The story behind Modstitch will be a familiar tale to many. Working in a high-stress job, I was feeling burnt out and realised I needed some downtime. Something creative. Something to help me slow down that I could pick-up and put down.

Cross-stitch ticked a lot of boxes, but the only designs available were uninspiring. So I created my own range!

The perfect hobby for those who need to slow down. Modstitch kits allow you to enjoy the process of creating something beautiful.

Best of all, I've done all the hard work for you, so sit back, grab a kit and get creating.

Never tried cross-stitch? My go to recommendations for beginners are the Wattle or Monstera kits - the simple colour blocks mean you will be up and stitching in no time.

Wood In Melbourne

Wood In Melbourne is my baby. A culmination of many, many hours of learning (mostly by trial and error), researching and failing. It serves as a showcase, storefront and place to share my woodart projects and ideas.

A project manager by day, most other times you will find me engrossed in a project of more tangible form. Selecting from a variety of skills I've developed over the years (mostly out of interest, or necessity).

The story of Wood In Melbourne started back in highschool, but only manifesting itself with the purchase of our first home in the middle of a Global Pandemic. Without much to do during the Great-100-Days-Of-Lockdown, I spent endless hours trawling the local hardware store and started working on the house. Quickly turning into building a few small items around the house, before discovering and into wood-art.

Humans have a storied past with timber. Building and creating with it for thousands of years. I want to continue exploring this relationship with nature, particularly how we can reuse and upcycle what people consider 'waste' into something of beauty.

My main ‘thing’ is Illustration. I have very busy hands and a busy mind, so I like to keep things interesting by trying all sorts of mediums and techniques. Gouache, acrylic paint, Glass dip pen drawings, ink painting… you name it!

Each piece is hand crafted or hand made, poured over with love and enthusiasm. I really put my whole self into each thing I create and being able to create and express myself makes me beam every day.

The Nonsense Maker

The Nonsense Maker is inspired by artist Emily May's imaginative adventuring alter ego, along with Melbourne’s many hidden secrets.

Starting out in 2016 with her business partner Sidonie by her side, the pair set out to bring a little more Nonsense to the world one illustration at a time.

Since then the brand has grown into a playful, fun, and whimsical collection of Australian made greeting cards, wall art prints, and stationery.
